Dr. Susan Fantinato is a Registered Psychologist (Supervised Practice) with the College of Psychologists in Ontario. She earned her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the American Schools of Professional Psychology in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Dr. Fantinato completed her residency at Queens Medical Centre, in Honolulu, Hawaii where she worked in inpatient, outpatient and adolescent residential treatment settings.
Living and practicing in Honolulu for 18 years, Dr. Fantinato primarily worked for the Honolulu District School Board. She provided individual counseling and therapy for children and adolescents with learning disabilities and/or emotional issues impacting their school performance. When required, she extended treatment to include families, school personnel and other support groups essential to the child’s success. Dr. Fantinato also worked with high risk adolescents involved in the legal system. Additionally, she provided individual, couples and family therapy in private practice.
Upon returning to Toronto, Dr. Fantinato worked for the Toronto Catholic District School Board, conducting psychoeducational assessments and individual counseling. In addition, she provided Individual, Couple and Family therapy at The Wishing Well Health Centre in Stouffville, Ontario.
Dr. Fantinato has experience in working with various mental health concerns including: attachment issues, mood and anxiety disorders, interpersonal and relational difficulties, situational life transitions, grief and trauma.
Dr. Fantinato’s treatment approach is integrative in nature and uses an attachment-focused psychodynamic framework in therapy alongside evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Emotional Focused Therapy, Family Systems and Development Theory.
