Master’s Student in Clinical Psychology
Stephanie is a second-year Master of Psychology student in Clinical Psychology at Adler Graduate Professional School. She completed a BSc (Hons) in Psychology at Trent University and was the Governor General’s Medal recipient. Her undergraduate thesis involved an examination of the self-medication of anxiety disorders with alcohol and cannabis, including the role of emotion coping, life stress, social support, and gender. She continues this research in her Master’s program. On the road to discovering her passion for mental health and addictions, Stephanie previously completed a BSc (Hons) in Biological Chemistry at Ontario Tech University, and worked in Research and Development as an Analytical Chemist in the pharmaceutical industry.
Stephanie has held various career positions in the field of psychology, in both clinical and research domains. Most recently, she worked as a Mental Health and Addictions Clinician with the Canadian Mental Health Association, Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge. In this capacity, she delivered counselling services with The Road Ahead Mobile Wellness Clinic to young, middle-aged, and older adults facing a variety of psychological concerns alongside barriers to service in rural and remote communities. As part of a pilot project with Ontario Health, Stephanie was grateful to contribute to the development of The Road Ahead’s program design and strategies for individualized client care.
Stephanie utilizes a client-centred, integrative approach to psychotherapy, incorporating techniques from a variety of modalities (e.g., Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy). She is eager to work alongside clients to assess their mental health concerns, identify unique and focused goals, develop and execute effective treatment strategies, and navigate their mental health journey to a place of acceptance, adaptation, and empowerment.
